The studio’s official site — A presentation site for Vela’s services, products, projects and work.

The brief

An agency site is judged by the thing it is, not the things it says. Ours had to open in a market where most studios ship a template and a stock photo, argue for standards nobody here is arguing for, and do it in two languages without either reading as the translation. It also had to run properly on the phones people in Albania actually carry, which is the part most agency sites quietly fail.

What we did

  1. The offer, before the atmosphere — The first screen names what we sell. Atmosphere earns attention, but it does not answer the question the visitor arrived with.
  2. A mark that has to work at sixteen pixels — A boat in two shapes: a small sail above, a hull with a V cut out below. Drawn at favicon size and scaled up, because small is where a mark fails.
  3. One signal colour, and the sea it points across — One cyan does every piece of pointing on the site. A palette where four colours all say “look here” cannot say it at all.
  4. The name is the argument — Vela is the sail: the part of a ship that turns weather into direction and momentum for the ship. We split it into the two things we sell, course and hull.
  5. Six claims, six drawings — Each argument is drawn rather than described: a clock that runs, a pin that finds itself, one photograph cropped three ways.
  6. The process, with the boring parts left in — Discover, Design, Build, Sail, each with what we need from you at that point. A first-time buyer can see the whole engagement before writing.
  7. The work has to carry it — Every project opens into its reasoning, its screens and a film of it running. A portfolio that shows the work beats a page that describes it.
  8. Two languages, two addresses — Albanian and English each have their own URL, page and hreflang, both written rather than translated. A toggle on one address is invisible to search engines.
